I've never studied Spanish, and if it's not too embarrassing, I wonder if someone could translate for me:

"hija de puta" (page 29 hardcover edition) - I have a feeling what it may mean, and if it's what I think it means, I can understand if no one wants to volunteer what this is.

"jefe" (used multiple places, including page 29 hardcover)

"putas" (page 212 hardcover)

Also, speaking of foreign languages, is there any English source for "The Girl in the Yellow Bikini" other than its original 1974 publication in Mike Shayne Mystery Magazine?

"hija de p**a"--> son of a b**ch

"jefe"--> boss

"putas"--> b***ches or sl*ts

Sorry, can't answer your last question--have no clue.E S

Thanks for the reply. After all of these months, I figured I probably wouldn't ever get a response. And just as I had thought, some of these turned out to be words people wouldn't be comfortable repeating. I also realize that I should have put asterisks in one of the Spanish words.

As for "Girl in the Yellow Bikini", I went to Washington, DC, recently and was in the Library of Congress looking for something else, so I put in a request for Mike Shayne Mystery Magazine from 1974. About an hour before the library closed, volumes covering late 1973 through October 1974 were brought out to me. I went through the table of contents for each one, but this story was not in any of these issues. It was too late to request the volume covering November and December of 1974 due to the library's imminent closing. The next time I am in the DC area and have a chance to go there, I will specifically request the volume that contains these two issues. (This is assuming that the year 1974 is correct.)
