Hi, Phil. I love that you are so open to receiving messages from your fans. I read constantly and have read most of your books! I try to figure out if I've been to any of the places you use in your writing. My own little mystery I guess.

I am working on a novel and I'm at the stage where I need to find an agent. So....

Question 1 How long did you shop around looking for the right one.

Question 2 Any reccommendations?

I really appreciate your time.

Regards,

Lori Boggs

Lori: First, do not look for an agent until you are absolutely certain that your book is finished and as good as you can make it. Second, I got an agent in a bizarre way that would be of no use to you. Third, the three ways I know to find an agent is (1) to ask a friend or teacher or acquaintance who has one for an introduction; (2) there are books in the library that list agents and their clients and give hints on how to contact them; (3) if you live in Oregon or nearby The Willamette Writers hold a conference every year where they invite agents. For a small fee you can meet with one. It is worth it. This year's conference is in August. Other Writer's conferences also do this. The one is Surrey, B.C. is one I know of. Good luck. Phil

Thank you so much. I live in Gladstone so the Willamette writers conference would be very convenient.

I'll let you know how things go. When I get published, I'll ask you for a little blurb!

Thanks again.

Lori
